Question 1

How do Discord timestamps work?

Accepted Answer

Discord timestamps use Unix time and render in each viewer's local timezone and date format. The syntax is <t:UNIX:FORMAT>, where UNIX is seconds since January 1, 1970 (UTC).

Question 2

What timezone do Discord timestamps use?

Accepted Answer

Discord timestamps automatically display in the viewer's local timezone, so you never need to specify one. The same timestamp code shows different times to users in different timezones.

Question 3

How do I use a Discord timestamp in a message?

Accepted Answer

Copy the generated code (e.g. <t:1700000000:R>) and paste it directly into any Discord message. It will render as formatted text for everyone who reads it.

Question 4

What are all the Discord timestamp formats?

Accepted Answer

Discord supports 7 formats: F (long date/time), f (short date/time), D (long date), d (short date), T (long time), t (short time), and R (relative, like "2 hours ago").
